There are several ways to prevent carrier adjustments:

1) Enter accurate dimensions and weight

Correctly measure and enter your package dimensions and weight when booking. Carriers always round up fractional length, width, height and weight measurements to the next inch or pound, so you should, too.

For example:

  • Enter 12.25 inches as 13 inches

  • Enter 57.4 lbs as 58 lbs

Always measure your box or case at its longest, widest and tallest points, including all bulges, just like carriers do.

2) Confirm the delivery address is correct

When booking your shipment, make sure the delivery address is accurate and complete:

  • Always include a suite, unit or apartment number if there is one. This applies to both residential and commercial delivery addresses.

  • Accept Bikeflights’ suggested address edits as prompted to ensure correct formatting.

3) Include the correct recipient name(s)

Recipient names help carriers deliver without delays and reduce the risk of an address correction charge.

  • Commercial deliveries: Company name is required

  • Residential deliveries: The name of the property owner or permanent resident is required

Shipments sent without a valid company or individual name may receive an address correction charge and may experience a delivery delay.

How to enter recipient names correctly

Shipping to a business, hotel or other commercial location

  • Enter the Company Name associated with the address (for example, John’s Bike Shop, The UPS Store or Hotel Milan)

  • In the First Name field, enter: Hold for [RECIPIENT FIRST NAME]

  • In the Last Name field, enter: [RECIPIENT LAST NAME]

Example: If the package is ultimately going to Jane Smith, enter:

  • First Name: Hold for Jane

  • Last Name: Smith

Shipping to a residential address, Airbnb, VRBO or a friend’s home

  • Enter the property owner’s or permanent resident’s First Name and Last Name (not your own)

  • You can still indicate that the shipment belongs to you by adding your first and last name in the Attn/RA field

4) Stay within carrier size and weight limits

Never ship a package that is larger or weighs more than the maximum allowed.
