UPS® Ground shipments stay within the UPS carrier system until they are delivered whereas UPS SurePost® shipments may be handed off to the US Postal Service for final delivery. Therefore, it’s common for UPS SurePost® shipments to take 1-2 days longer to deliver.

UPS SurePost® shipments are generally cheaper than UPS® Ground shipments; however, the criteria for being able to use the UPS SurePost® service is more limited based on size, weight, value, ship-to location and shipment purpose. See “What is UPS SurePost®?”
