The exact documents that you need to provide depend on where you are shipping to and from. Certain countries require specific documentation that others do not.
BikeFlights.com will ask you for the following:
- Confirmation of shipper and recipient information, including in-country phone numbers.
- Packing List and description of goods.
- Passport image, number (digital image or scan).
- Flight itinerary confirmation (if applicable).
Most countries do not allow you to bring your bike and gear into them for vacation without assessing duties, taxes and other customs fees. The clearance fees will be calculated when placing your order. If the fees are not calculated, you will be notified while placing your order and a Customer Service member will reach out with the clearance fee amount. All clearance fees are pre-paid prior to shipment.
When shipping your bike for vacation, your shipment will be classified as “Personal Effects”. The customs clearance process may take up to two weeks. We suggest arranging your shipment to arrive with time to clear customs. BikeFlights.com will forward all documentation to customs, but they will often ask you to provide that documentation multiple times.
